PIAB developed a very innovative type of suction cup that can produce an angular movement under vacuum.
It has great potential for use as a gripper for non geometry-stable objects such as bean bags, cloth, polythene bags of components, etc. or any other kind of unpredictable geometry that is difficult to pick with the standard selection of vacuum cups or grippers.
Here is a tri-gripper that I designed that uses the PIAB cup.
The gripper was also available in kit form.
